This quote can make one think of many things. It can be related to how sometimes the better option is to let your lover go, rather than keep up the complicated relationship. It seems like a very difficult decision, but it might be for the best. But this quote makes me think of another situation as well, one that more university students like me might be able to relate to.

For most parents, their children are most important, and their university choice affects them greatly. This sometimes means that they have to let their children step out into the real world, and study away from the family. Parents are usually unhappy when this situation comes up. But I believe that no matter how challenging this decision may be, most parents compromise, for the well-being and development of their children. This will, in the long-run, make the children much more competent to face the world, and make them stronger. And in the end, nothing makes a parent happier than seeing their child succeed in life.

黑塞的這句話可以讓我們展開很多聯想。比如,有些時候更好的選擇是讓你所愛的人去追隨他自己的內心,而不是把他強行留在自己身邊來保護複雜的關係。對心愛的人放手,這並不簡單,但卻可能是最好的決定。看到這句話時,我想到了很多像我一樣的大學生都經歷過的一幕。

大多數父母把子女放在第一位,因此子女對大學的選擇對他們也產生了很大的影響。很多時候,讓子女自己選擇大學就意味著父母需要放手,讓孩子離開家庭的溫馨與保護,步入外面真正的世界去迎接挑戰。當這一刻真正來臨時,父母往往顯得焦慮不安。但是不管這個決定有多難,很多家長還是會為子女的發展著想,繼而向自己妥協。把目光放長遠我們也不難發現,對孩子放手,可以讓他們在嚴峻又有些殘酷的世界裡面打拼,從而更具競爭力。這樣一種長期的磨練會讓子女離成功愈來愈近,對父母來說這無疑是最欣慰的結局。
