Don’t SIT Yourselves
By: EMON Syed (Hall 10)
Can you imagine being paid for every hours that you are sitting in the years of your university life? You would become a millionaire (or even a billionaire) in no time. Sitting down for prolonged amount of time is a usual habit for most university students, but this habit can be extremely dangerous for your health and well-being. Numerous research have found that prolonged sitting is highly correlated with worse mental health, higher risk of death from heart disease and other illnesses, and a higher risk of being disabled. You can combat these problems associated with sitting by having ample amount of exercise, but sometimes exercise is not enough. Another way to fight against the grim future of ‘over-sitting’ is to have intermittent 5-minute walks every hour that you spend sitting. With simple walks and consistent work-outs, you can lead a healthier and a better life.
