[Why You Should Go Traveling]
By DUAN Yanlin, Alan (Jockey Club Academy Hall)
People always say, “Either your body, or your soul should always be on the road.” For your soul to be on the road, it means reading. For your body to be on the road, it means traveling. If you want to ask: why should I spend a lot of money just for going to another city/country for a few days, this article will give you three reasons on why you should have a trip:
First, leave your comfort zone. This is probably the most important reason. When traveling to another place, where people have different language, culture, you may feel a little bit “uncomfortable”—and congratulates, that is the first step for you to be afresh. I go traveling around, primarily because I want to challenge myself by meeting new people, speaking another language, and experiencing a brand-new culture. That is also the chance for you to be independent, open-minded and gain a global eyesight.
Second, build up your life story. You will be surprised to know how many people love traveling. I had a friend who went to Lebanon this summer (and she also experienced a local parade lasting for more than four hours). We can just chat about what happened during the journey for hours—and guess what, that is also something you can talk about in your interview!
Third, traveling is fun. Yeah, you don’t really need a reason. We travel just because it is cool. It is so enjoyable when visiting a historic site you read about in a book before. Of course, you should also try to enjoy all those “unpleasant things” that may happen accidentally in your trip — such as a flight delay or a night of awful accommodation. But that is what makes traveling so charming right? Face those unexpected things, and smile.
