So you’ve been ignoring it all month but the midterm is tomorrow and you need to get down to business the night before and finish studying it all! We’ve all been there before, and I know how hard it is to actually start studying once you’ve settled down to do so. Here I thought I’d share some tips to keep your desk clean and organised, so that you can optimise your study space and study a bit more effectively.

Remove any items that distract you: Whether it’s at the library or in your room, make sure you don’t have any distracting items (eg: phones, iPad, etc.) near or on your desk. We all know how that ends up. I prefer the library or common study areas instead of my room, so you only bring study material.

Make sure you have all your supplies: Remember to have all your study items like pens, markers, sticky notes, clock, etc. handy so you don’t get distracted looking for them.

Atmosphere is important: Study in an atmosphere that is tidy, brightly lit, well ventilated, and not too noisy. If you’re in your room, motivational notes or study schedules help.

Always keep water: Make sure you have a bottle with you as it’s important to stay hydrated if you’re going to be studying for a while.

Take short breaks: Don’t overwork yourself and remember to take a deep breath every now and then, and look away from your computer screen/ book at regular intervals to focus at something far away to relax your eyes. If needed, keep your snack breaks quick and try not to work on an empty stomach.

Hope that helps. Add oil for the midterms ya’ll!
